Electrical infrastructure upgrades
Build capacity for your next stage. We assess switchboards, distribution and supply requirements for new equipment, solar, storage and EV charging.

Signs a site is at its limit
- The main switch or main breaker trips under heavy load, particularly on hot days.
- Voltage drop at the far end of the site, showing up as motors running hot or equipment misbehaving.
- No spare capacity at the main board, so new circuits have nowhere to go.
- Distribution boards added ad hoc over the years, with no coherent plan and poor documentation.
- Sub-mains that were sized for a load the site passed years ago.
- A quote for new plant, solar or EV charging that came back with a supply upgrade attached.
What an upgrade involves
It depends where the constraint is. Sometimes the incoming supply is adequate and the problem is distribution within the site, which is a more contained job. Sometimes the supply itself needs increasing, which involves your network distributor and a longer lead time.
Establishing which of those you are facing is the first thing we do, because it changes the cost and the program by an order of magnitude.
Supply capacity
Increasing the incoming supply where the site has genuinely outgrown it. Involves the distributor and needs lead time.
Main switchboard
Replacing or extending the main board to provide capacity and current compliance. See commercial switchboard upgrades.
Sub-mains and distribution
Re-running or upsizing sub-mains to remove voltage drop and feed new areas properly.
Distribution boards
Rationalising boards that grew organically into something documented and maintainable.
Staging it around operations
Infrastructure work is disruptive by nature, so the planning matters more than the installation. We survey what exists, design the end state, then work out a sequence that gets there in steps the site can absorb. Temporary supplies cover loads that genuinely cannot be interrupted, and each stage ends with the site operational.
Design for where you are going. If solar, storage or EV charging are on your roadmap, factor them in now. Building headroom into an upgrade costs a fraction of doing the work again in three years.
Good to know
Your questions, answered.
How long does a supply upgrade take?
Where the distributor is involved, lead times can be significant and are largely outside our control. Internal distribution work is much faster. We will tell you which applies early.
Can it be staged to spread the cost?
Often yes. We will set out what has to happen together and what can sensibly be deferred.
Will we lose power?
Some outages are unavoidable, but they are planned, kept short, and scheduled when they hurt least. Temporary supplies cover critical loads.
How do we know how much capacity we need?
From your existing load data plus the plant you intend to add. Guessing in either direction is expensive, so we measure.
